А могло все быть не так безоблачно...

Bilbao WDSF Senior 2 World Championship was arranged in 11 st of November 2017.
There occurred a very confusing and serious error-situation
Our pair (who were the reigning world champions and who got the silver medal in this competition) were watching their results after early rounds. To their huge surprise they noticed that they were ended in 50 th place (!!!) with no marks at all. So the competition was over? What?
There was a german coach (thanks to her very much! ) walking nearby and she took the result list to the officials and asked them to check the results telling that it is not possible that the world champions ended in 50 th place. The officials printed the results again and the new listing showed the marks for the champions so that they go on to next round.
How is this possible? Were there some other pairs and other rounds with improper marks too? When the adjudicator gives his/her marks, they go automatically to computer as far as I know. I cannot find any reasonable explanation for this.
If there were an error in the system the round should be redanced to get the right marks, isn't it true?
How was it possible that there were two different kind of listings?
What would have happened if the german coach would not have asked to check the results? The competitors do not have right to doubt the results?

Я понимаю, что это, скорее всего, сбой компьютерной системы. Но тогда вопрос: есть ли иная возможность отследить такой сбой, кроме как самим танцорам? Опять же и танцоры не всегда могут непорядок заметить. В этом случае просто уж очень показательно получилось: чемпионы мира не получили ни одного креста - это явно что-то не то. А у других может не быть таких явных противоречий... Что делать танцорам?
